Jerome Thibouville (Lamy)

$2,950.00

This Antique Music Box made circa 1885 in Switzerland by the maker Jerome Thibouville (Lamy). This maker was known to make music boxes which were often attributed to the firm " L'Eppe". There have been many debates between collectors about this fact as well as whether they are considered to be made in Switzerland or France. This Music box has the initials "J.R.T." directly under the treble end of the comb just below the treble teeth so I will describe it as such. There are distinctive tuning marks on the Brass below all the teeth usually seen only on finer quality boxes. Despite it's small size this Music Box has an amazingly Full and beautiful tone with really nice arrangements. The 6 airs are listed on the original Tune Label. The Lid is of Rosewood with a simple yet beautiful floral Inlay design with Satinwood Borders. A Zither attachment to change the sound (slide the lever left to right) is also present.

Case measurement 14-3/4" x 8" x 6"
Cylinder 5" in length
